Troubled Wild Salmon Get a Star Supporter

In the ongoing saga of wild salmon vs fished salmon, a star comes along to help prong the government in the right direction. Will it work? Who knows. But is sure as hell is nice to see William Shatner lend a support to the cause.

William has penned a very good letter to the prime minister, urging him to remove the damaging fish farms from the coast line of BC and move them on land. Several other countries are following this path because they realized it is the only sensible thing to do – lest they loose all their wild fish.

B.C. is one of the last places on Earth where we still have wild salmon born in our rivers and then migrate to the sea, only to come back in few years to the same exact spot they were born and contribute to the cycle of life. Currently wild salmon are facing complete and utter destruction in the most productive salmon runs in BC. And all this for an industry (Fish Farms) that does not even contribute all that much to the economy of BC (but quite a lot to the Norwegian owners).

Please read the letter and consider helping the Biologist Alexandra Morton who is spearheading, along with her volunteers saving the remnants of what used to be the mighty salmon runs. If the salmon go, so do the Bears, the forests. B.C’s economy will also take a huge hit and the lives of many First Nations will be affected.

There’s too much at stake. Let’s not be silent and indifferent to something that has such profound implications.

Thank you
