Environment minister “haunted” by past and present as political operator opposed to environmental initiatives.
BALI, INDONESIA, on December 10, 2007: John Baird was at the centre of international attention during that week’s climate change talks there. The international community was adjusting to a Canada that initially promoted the Kyoto protocol and whose top ministers were then undermining it with proposed revisions that appear to favour big polluters such as Alberta’s oil industry.

This December, the United Nations met with 190 countries to start working on a new framework on Climate Change when the current Kyoto protocol expires in 2012. The work that led to this historical meeting, the rallies that happened across the world on December 8th and the work done at the meeting in Bali was astounding.

December 8th - Global Day of Action on Climate Change
That was the day that marked the half way point of negotiations on the future of fight against Climate Change in Bali, Indonesia. This was a historical moment - UN meeting with 190 nations, with 10,000 delegates, journalist, envoys and other people related to the event, to hammer out the successor to the Kyoto protocol, which expires in 2012.

If actually cutting greenhouse gas emissions isn’t going very well (largely due to incessant foot dragging by politicians), how about coming up with some new technology or chemical to put up into the atmosphere to help neutralize global warming?
