BALI, INDONESIA, on December 10, 2007: John Baird was at the centre of international attention during that week’s climate change talks there. The international community was adjusting to a Canada that initially promoted the Kyoto protocol and whose top ministers were then undermining it with proposed revisions that appear to favour big polluters such as Alberta’s oil industry.
