Kayaking in the Gulf Islands, BC

Hello my fellow readers,
my apologies for not posting at my regular pace; I have been on vacation with my lovely wife kayaking and camping in the Gulf Islands, BC, near Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. The trip was quite nice, however the weather did not cooperate at all, which partly ruined the trip. One also had to be careful going sea kayaking since the weather can change quickly, and the tides and currents and waves when it’s windy can be hazardous to kayakers. We were quite well prepared, and so nothing major befell upon us. We are hoping to make many more memorable trips in the future. The highlight must have been to see tons of curious seals surrounding our kayaks and following us everywhere.
When we came back, we started on doing a lot of yard work and renovations, including building of an eco-shed with green roof (on going) and a patio deck under our huge cedar tree (also ongoing).
I will be blogging about these projects very soon and post pictures I have taken. I will describe the challenges of doing these projects environmentally with minimal ecological footprint and the difficulty of obtaining recycled or reclaimed materials. Hopefully it will inspire others and help them in their quest to become more green.
