A Poem to the Earth

Earth Day Celebrations are coming worldwide in one week. One of my fans and someone whom I love and have admiration for what they do in respect to the environment on a daily basis – Sue Campbell – wrote a wonderful poem I would like to share with all of you.
Sue, thank you for your gift.

Sue Campbell, April 5, 2007

To the earth we must apologize
For, as humans, we have been unwise
We have lived our lives each and every day
Without thinking of you in any way

We seem to keep creating things that add to waste
Using them without haste
Discarding them without thinking of you
Not realizing the impact of what we do

We know you are dwindling away
A little bit more each day
Our weather patterns have changed drastically
But, we say, “that has nothing to do with me”

Natural disasters are on the rise
My, my, is this a big surprise!
You are now starting to fight back
You are no longer going to take our “flak”

It is time for us to start thinking of you
And to start thinking of what we can do
To help you recover from the damage we have done
Hopefully, we can work together “AS ONE”
