3..2…1….Lift off!

Finally it has happened. I set aside an afternoon and this blog was born. The reason behind another blog? Simple. I want to change the world. I know, I know, sounds presumptuous. But I never said I would necessarily change the whole world (although it would be nice). No, I want to change the world, but one person at a time. And why, say you, I want to change the world? After all, does the world need yet another preacher?

Well, I think it does. Not a preacher, but someone who has leadership skills, doesn’t mind to be in the spotlight (although it can be scary) and is very, very passionate about what he believes in. And what I strongly believe in is that humans are quickly destroying what is left of the vital life support we call our environment that sustains life as we know it on planet Earth. All scientists (except some crack pot types) now believe Global Climate Change is mostly the result of human activity. And that the window of opportunity to act is rapidly closing.

Thus I decided to act. I got tired of watching TV, reading newspapers and just bitching about our governments doing absolutely nothing about this life-threatening issue. The government is scratching the backs of few fat cats with money just so business can go on as usual. Yes sirry, I started to act. I started to become part of the solution. I started to analyze every big and little aspect of my life and question how my actions as a human being and as a consumer affects the environment. You’d be surprised what answers you find. And after I started to change my life around, I realized I accrued a lot of knowledge I should share with others so they in turn can change their lives.
I am by far not the only one doing this. And we need more people doing this. Because if all of us start to pull together by the same end of the rope, we can, we truly can, lick this serious issue.

And thus this blog is born. I will try to post a new story every week or so and few other authors will be joining me shortly with their own take on the environment. You will find stories here about anything and everything related to the environment, my new upcoming website project codenamed acoma, but also tips on what you can do.

Stay tuned, and remember to Reduce, Reuse and recycle!

Well done and well written Peter. I agree we do not need more “preachers”; however, we need many “teachers”. We recycle, compost and reuse as much as possible. On average, we have less than 1/2 bag of “garbage” each week. One issue I would especially like to be addressed is the new “energy efficient” lightbulbs. I understand that some stores are offering rebates for taking in your old lightbulbs and purchasing the new EE lightbulbs (similar to the promotion for Christmas lights). I also understand that some Utility companies have initiated this program. One must check “locally” for stores/companies offering such rebates. Look forward to updates.
